Our K-2 unit uses “Jack and the Beanstalk” to explore a variety of concepts in language, science, and math:

• living and nonliving things
• real and imaginary
• measurement
• the life cycle of a plant

The illustrated story is included, perfect for reading aloud or you can copy it for student reading.

A usable copy-and-cut ruler is included, as well as a manipulative cutout of Jack for a bean growing project or to use for measurement, story maps, or your own ideas.

Our middle school level Arctic Triptych unit encourages students to find, analyze, and think critically about information regarding climate change and the Arctic. It provides a variety of texts and visuals with which to interact.

The unit explores a range of topics with a focus on data analysis:

• Arctic food webs
• undersea life
• climate change
• reading charts and graphs
• using math to understand charts and graphs
• understanding probability
• using graphic organizers

The unit also contains two traditional European folktales to read, discuss, and compare.

Middle school and high school students will get practice in using facts to draw conclusions and in speculating on the basis of facts.

The story of the Princess and the Pea is perfect for introducing basic math and art concepts. Our unit includes the story, reproducible color manipulatives and worksheets, and hands-on art projects.

• Explore color, space, and line.
• Count and add.
• Practice patterning.
• Create artwork using a variety of ideas about
  color, pattern, and line.
• Use manipulatives for counting and adding.
• Follow directions to create a math art project.

The illustrated story is included to read aloud or to copy for student reading. The color manipulatives can be used not only for the activities in the unit, but as manipulatives or decoratives for your medieval or fairy tale units.
